A bullet chart provides a rich display of data in a small space. It was developed by Stephen Few, the renowned Data Visualization Guru
It is extremely useful especially in visualizing Performance against Targets and comparative years.
Unfortunately, Excel to date does not support creation of Bullet Charts directly. However there are techniques to create Bullet Charts which are available on the web.
